Gary Michael Barnidge (born September 22, 1985 in Bowling Green , Kentucky ) is an American retired American football player on the tight end position . He played for the Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Barnidge attended the University of Louisville and ran between 2004 and 2007 for their team, the Cardinals, as a tight end , with a total of 17 touchdowns .

NFL

Carolina Panthers

He was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the 5th round of the 2008 NFL Draft as the 141st player . In his rookie season he was only used in the special teams and was able to set three tackles . The following year he was also on the field as a replacement tight end.

In 2011 he broke his ankle while preparing and was out the entire season. In 2012 he finally scored his first touchdown as a professional.

Cleveland Browns

In 2013 he moved to the Cleveland Browns, where he also plays as a special teamer and as a tight end. After two rather average seasons, 2015 saw a real performance explosion. Barnidge was able to score 9 touchdowns and was even called up to the Pro Bowl . He was released on April 28, 2017.
