Gary Starkweather

Gary Keith Starkweather (born January 9, 1938 in Lansing , Michigan , † December 26, 2019 in Orlando , Florida ) was an American engineer and inventor .

Starkweather studied physics at Michigan State University and the University of Rochester . From 1964 to 1988 he was at Xerox PARC , where he invented the laser printer . From 1988 to 1997 he worked for Apple , then for Microsoft .

Gary Starkweather held several patents. At the 1995 Academy Awards, he was recognized for his work for Pixar . In 2012 he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame .
