The Gasetta Romontscha was a Swiss Romansh- language newspaper in Disentis , which addressed the Catholics in the Surselva . The Catholic-Conservative Placi Condrau founded her in 1856 as the successor to Amitg dil Pievel ("People's Friend "). It was first released on January 1, 1857 as Nova Gasetta Romonscha . From 1867 to March 1892 she was called Gasetta Romonscha , then Gasetta Romontscha . It appeared weekly until 1951, and twice weekly since 1952. It was written in the Rhaeto-Romanic idiom Surselvian . In 1997 it was integrated into the new Romance daily newspaper La Quotidiana .

history

Placi Condrau was also the newspaper's first and sole editor. He had bought the episcopal printing house in Chur , relocated it to Disentis and renamed it "Stampa Romontscha". As the parent company for newspapers and printers, he founded the Desertina publishing house. From 1894 until his death in 1902 he worked with his nephew, Landammann Giachen Giusep Condrau. He then edited the newspaper until he had a fatal accident in 1922.

His eldest son Josef Condrau , who was a member of the National Council from 1935 to 1963 , then took over the editing. His son Pius joined the company in 1949, initially headed the technical department and took over the entire company after his father's death in 1974. In 1971 Giusep Capaul finally joined the editorial team and in 1974 took over responsibility for the newspaper as editor-in-chief . Most recently, Martin Cabalzar, editor in Ilanz since 1987, was editor-in-chief from 1990 to 1996.

From 1969 to 1971 Dumeni Columberg was also part of the editorial team.

In addition to the Gasetta Romontscha, Desertina-Verlag published other periodicals and supplements. The Pagina da Surmeir was a supplement to the Gasetta Romontscha from 1946 before it established itself as an independent sheet in 1949, but which was still printed in Disentis.

In 1993 Stampa Romontscha Condrau SA merged with Gasser Media AG (now Somedia ), which had been printing the newspaper since 1987. In 1996 Somedia founded the Romance daily newspaper La Quotidiana , into which the Gasetta Romontscha as well as the Fögl Ladin and the Casa Paterna / La Pùnt were integrated. The editor-in-chief of the Gasetta Romontscha , Martin Cabalzar , became the editor-in-chief .
