Gasparo Ferri (* before 1664; † 1717 in Celle or Venice ) was an Italian horticulturist and landscape architect .

Life

Gasparo Ferri, who comes from an Italian family, redesigned the Italian Garden in Celle from 1664 or 1673 or from February 15, 1674 in the service of Duke Georg Wilhelm over a period of more than a quarter of a century until his death in 1717 . He was temporarily supported by the gardening assistant Lorenzo Ferri, Gasparo's brother. While Gasparo Ferri initially received a salary of 200, later later 293 thaler , Lorenzo received 130 thaler. However, Lorenzo Ferri returned to Italy around the end of the 17th century.

In parallel to his work on the Italian Garden, Gasparo Ferri also laid out the ducal vineyard in Celle.

Ferri's preferred activity, however, was the cultivation of melons, asparagus and flowers from Venice, from 1693 also the cultivation of fruit trees in the Italian garden, according to RWLE Möller in a "swamp added to the garden that was filled in".

After Ferri had also co-managed the French Garden , after Ferri's death in 1717 Johann Buchten succeeded him.

According to a note in the Catholic church register , Gasparo Ferri, who died in 1717, was buried in Celle.
