Company premises Gasteiner Mineralwasser in Bad Gastein

Gasteiner Mineralwasser is a mineral water brand from Austria . In 2008 the company was the fourth largest mineral water producer in the country. It has been bottled and sold by Gasteiner Mineralwasser GmbH in Bad Gastein , which today belongs to S. Spitz GmbH , since 1929 .

history

Alois Windischbauer made the first attempt at a commercial expulsion of Gastein's medicinal water in 1887. In 1912, the municipality of Bad Gastein bought the medicinal springs back from the Habsburgs and from 1919 tried to generate economic income from the sale of the water. The industrial expulsion of the water, initially still titled as table water, did not begin until 1929 with the establishment of the Gasteiner Mineralwasser Gesellschaft . Since this year the thermal water has been bottled and sold all over Austria. In 1929, the then Österreichische Brau AG took over the company.

The production and filling quantities were kept within limits until the end of the 1970s due to the relatively small business location in the town center and could only be multiplied with the construction of a new production and operational building on Erlengrund. Today Gasteiner Mineralwasser GmbH has a modern filling system with a capacity of 500,000 filled bottles per day. Every year around 55 million bottles are produced and sold at the Gastein site.

In October 2007 S. Spitz GmbH acquired 51% and Brau Union Österreich AG 49% of Gasteiner Mineralwasser Gesellschaft mbH . The company has been wholly owned by Spitz GmbH since January 1, 2019.
