description
Vegetative characteristics
Gasteria vlokii grows stemless, sprouts from the base and forms small groups with a diameter of up to 14 centimeters. Their succulent, spindle-shaped roots have a diameter of up to 8 millimeters. The ribbon-shaped, lanceolate to triangular, spreading, sickle-shaped leaves are initially arranged in two lines on the shoot and later form a rosette . The green leaf blade is 5 to 9 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. On it there are dense white spots that form indistinct diagonal stripes. In the upper third it is keeled asymmetrically. The epidermis is rough. The pointed edge of the leaf is warty and tiny notched. The tip of the leaf is pointed or bluntly rounded with an asymmetrical tip.
Inflorescences and flowers
The curved and spread inflorescence is a panicle and reaches a length of 30 to 84 centimeters. There is rarely a pair of side branches. The dark reddish pink flower envelope is 29 to 33 millimeters long. Their bulbous part extends over a little more than half the length of the flower envelope and has a diameter of 6 to 7 millimeters. Above it is constricted to form a tube with a diameter of 4 millimeters.
Flowering time is in the middle of summer.
Fruits and seeds
The fruits are 15 to 18 millimeters long and 6 millimeters wide. They contain elongated seeds 3 to 5 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide .
