Architecture and history

The first mention of the inn dates back to 1509. The current buildings are likely to have originated in the 17th century. The inn is built in half-timbered construction and has the half-timbered forms of the half and whole man as well as the Thuringian ladder balustrade on the facade . The threshold is profiled. In recent times, additions have been made to the side that are based on the design of the old building, but are kept simpler.

The inn is described in old publications as the "best house on the site". That is how Friedrich Gottschalck called it in 1806 the most tolerable in Güntersberge.

In 1860, a family that ran the inn for 150 years bought the property from an owner in Harzgerode . At times there was also a butcher's shop and agriculture. In 1928 the inn was handed over to the family member Wilhelm Schellbach, who continued to run it and later, when the inn was part of the consumption , continued to run it as a consumer commission agent. In addition to a small dining room, there was another dining room with 35 seats. In addition, several guest rooms were rented to vacationers via the FDGB during the GDR era . From 1990 the inn was run privately again. Lisa Klauss, daughter of the former owner, had been running the business together with her husband since 1979, and then alone after his death. However, the occupancy rate of the guest rooms decreased, so that in 2014 the room rental was given up. Lisa Klauß continued to run the restaurant in 2015, at the age of 85.

In the local register of monuments , the inn is listed under registration number 094 84 959 as a monument .
