Gaston Bussière
Gaston Bussière (born April 24, 1862 in Cuisery , † October 29, 1928 or 1929 in Saulieu ) was a French painter and illustrator .
Life
Bussière attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon and then went to Paris to study under Alexandre Cabanel . He was largely inspired by his contemporaries, especially Gustave Moreau and the symbolism emerging around this time . His pictures and graphics often have French legends or Nordic myths on the subject such as the Nibelungs , Tristan and Isolde , Merlin , the Roland song , but also Romeo and Juliet , Ophelia or Salomé . Often very erotic Valkyries can be found in his work.
Bussière was temporarily a fan of Joséphin Péladan and exhibited at least twice his pictures in the Salon de la Rose-Croix .
