Gaston Tuaillon
Gaston Tuaillon (born December 23, 1923 in Fourneaux (Savoie) , † June 7, 2011 in Grenoble ) was a French Romance philologist and dialectologist .
life and work
Tuaillon graduated from high school in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in 1941 . He was involved in the Resistance , studied and taught at schools in Lyon . In 1953 he passed the Agrégation , taught in Mâcon and Lyon until 1957 and had a research post in Paris from 1957 to 1961. Then he went to the University of Grenoble . In 1972 he completed his habilitation in Strasbourg with Georges Straka with the thesis Etudes de dialectologie gallo-romane . He became professor of French language history and Gallo-Roman dialectology in Grenoble (retired in 1989).
From 1973 to 1980 Tuaillon was Secretary General of the Société de linguistique romane .
