The Gatö Jowo ( Tib . : dga 'stod jo bo ) is one of the sacred mountains of the Tibetans .

It is located in a northern side valley of the Tongtian He , the upper reaches of the Yangtze River (Dri Chu), in the area of Yushu in the Tibetan cultural region of Kham .

The mountain is in the area of Gatö municipality ("Upper Ga" / sga stod / dga 'stod / Gadoi / chin. Gaduo 尕 朵 乡) of Chidu County (Thridu) of Yushu County in northwest China's Qinghai Province . Its highest peak is 5395 m, according to other information 5470 m high. It is at an average altitude of 4900 meters. In the legends of the Tibetans he is associated with the Tibetan king Thrisong Detsen ( khri srong lde btsan ) and the ruler Gesar .
