Gathering Speed is the fourth studio album by the English progressive rock band Big Big Train . The CD was released in March 2004.

content

Gathering Speed is a concept album about the fate of a British fighter pilot (and his family) in the Battle of Britain . With this album BBT can still be assigned to the retro-prog, but add a dash of modernity in the form of post-rock influences ( Sigur Rós , Mogwai ). It is the first release with the new singer Sean Filkins. Laura Murch is a singer on some of the pieces.

The album received largely positive reviews, but Sean Filkins' vocals were not always well received.
