Gavin Portland is a post-hardcore band from Reykjavík , Iceland, founded in 2005 .

history

Gavin Portland was founded in Reykjavík in 2005 and recorded their first EP I: The End of Every Minute from late September to late January 2006 , which was released on January 29th. The second EP, II:… tell us how it ended, tell us how we died, was recorded at the beginning of April . This was sold on the following tour of Iceland. On September 6th the recordings for the debut album III: Views of Distant Towns were finished. It contains nine songs, two of which were already on the EPs. The record label 12 Tónar released the album on September 13, 2005 in Iceland. On October 18th, Gavin Portland played at the Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavík.

The music magazine Visions selected the album as one of the beauties of the month in January 2008, called the album "one of the most important (post) hardcore albums of the year" and describes Gavin Portland as "a band [...] who already made their debut album." Standing at eye level with the really big ones. "

Þórir Georg Jónsson also appears as a songwriter under the name My Summer As A Salvation Soldier . He has released two albums so far.

The music magazine Kerrang compares the band with Shellac , Quicksand and Fireside . The Visions mentions Fugazi and The Jesus Lizard .
