Gavriil Stepanovich Batenkow ( Russian Гавриил Степанович Батеньков , scientific. Transliteration Gavriil Stepanovič Baten'kov ; March 25 * . Jul / 5. April  1793 greg. In Tobolsk , † October 29 jul. / 10. November  1863 greg. In Kaluga ) was a Russian colonel and writer. For his participation in the Decembrist uprising of 1825 - a conspiracy against Tsar Nicholas I , who ascended the throne that year - he received twenty years of solitary confinement in the Peter and Paul Fortress and was then sent to Siberia . He died with an amnesty in Kaluga.
