Gay-for-Pay

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The English term gay-for-pay ( English for homosexual against payment ) describes the acting representation of a homosexual person by a heterosexual person or the exercise of the sexual act by a heterosexual person with such a same sex for a fee. The term is widely used in the sex industry as this practice is increasingly being used in homosexual porn films.

People who practice this practice in the sex industry can be both amateurs and professional performers who identify as heterosexual but who want to have sex with people of the same sex for a regular salary or primarily want to gain other sexual experiences. Some actors marketed under this label are actually bisexual or even homosexual. Performers do not face the same stigma as professional performers in the gay porn industry and can grow their popularity. Although gay-for-pay, heterosexual, male porn actors predominantly play the active role (top) in sex, they can in principle also be used in the passive role (bottom). Prominent examples are porn actors Kris Evans and Kristen Bjorn ; The company Bel Ami , where both actors were under contract, is also looking for and marketing such actors. In some cases, the actors work in parallel in the straight and homosexual porn industry to ensure long-term employment in the porn film industry.

Because some gay men view straight men as objects of the imagination, some companies are marketing their (homosexual or bisexual) porn actors as straight in order to increase sales. There are also homosexual or bisexual men who, for personal reasons, wish to be marketed as heterosexual. However, many people misjudge the actors because they often do not want to believe that they are actually straight men. This practice is widely used in Japan, which means that gay-for-pay predominates in homosexual porn films there. Important and commercially successful production companies such as Games Video Production cast weekly, well-trained, straight men who are used as actors in the passive role in homosexual porn films. In the gay porn industry in Japan, sales of porn films with gay-for-pay performers are higher than in the US and Europe because of higher demand. In order to additionally protect actors from social decline, their faces are pixelated in advertising images and in previews, but not in the porn films themselves.

motivation

Many straight men practice gay-for-pay because homosexual performances are paid much better than heterosexual ones and the activity as an actor in gay porn films promises higher prospects of fame and thus commercial success, which are significantly lower for male actors in heterosexual porn films, since this is the case the focus is on the female performers. Male, heterosexual webcam models are aware of the sexual orientation of their viewers and therefore usually adapt intentionally, as they experience more profit with the adaptation. Many young webcam models work because their part-time job does not yield the desired amount, they are in financial distress or because they just want to show their bodies. When successful gay-for-pay performers end their careers, they often begin performing in the straight porn industry or as bodybuilders such as Zeb Atlas .

Since the end of the 2010s , the popularity of the gay-for-pay industry has increased rapidly thanks to new social media platforms such as Onlyfans . Images and videos of sexual representation can be published on these platforms, but only subscribers can see them for a fee. For example, a subscription can cost $ 12.99 per person per person with 800 subscribers, which is why many act on the feedback from their subscribers or present themselves as more expensive. To increase awareness, many of these models have an Instagram and Twitter profile, on which excerpts of the content are published. Another reason for the increasing popularity is that homophobia is being tolerated less and less in society and the fear of being assigned to a gay community is disappearing. For many young men, sharing their self-portrayal, for example through the online dissemination of body images, is also part of their social, but also sexual, identity, according to John Mercer, professor at Birmingham City University. Men who are admired online and on the street can therefore see a “better” (profitable) benefit in their body than just posting body images on platforms like Instagram. It's not unusual for a lot of these straight models to share lavish content that one might think they are homosexual; but this is not the case. Some of these models also say that in the 2000s they couldn't have imagined straight men sexually presenting themselves to a gay audience. It is also common for these heterosexual models to make dirty talk , use sex toys, record videos in various locations and use matsurbation techniques to present their bodies erotically.
