Bel Ami is a trademark of the Slovakian Lanning Jánošov , registered in Monterey , California , from 1996 , who operates under the name George Duroy (from the novel Bel-Ami by Guy de Maupassant ). The manufacturer of the products for this brand (mainly porn films , especially with gay young actors) is listed on the Belamionline website as Multimedia Services as , founded in 2003 and based in Bratislava (as of 2008). The distribution company of this brand - at least in the USA - is called Bel Ami Video and is based in Monterey, California.
history
The first film productions ( Accidental Lovers and Sauna Paradiso ) were made in 1993. Most of the Bel Ami stars come from Slovakia or the Czech Republic . In the early days, the company mainly produced for the US market. The videos weren't sold in Europe for the first few years. This was justified by wanting to protect the actors' privacy in their own country, because a large number of the stars of the early days described themselves as heterosexual or at least bisexual .

The range of Bel Ami products ranges from hardcore porn films and softcore videos to calendars, postcards and photo books that have been published by Bruno Gmünder Verlag since 1996 . Many of the illustrated books were created in collaboration with the photographer Howard Roffman .
