CS Turnu Severin was a Romanian football club from Drobeta Turnu Severin . He played in the top Romanian league, Liga 1 , in the 2012/13 season .
history
Turnu Severin was founded in Craiova in 2007 through the merger of CFR Craiova and Gaz Metan Podari under the name Gaz Metan CFR Craiova . The club first started in League III , where he finished the 2007/08 season as second in season 4 behind Internațional Curtea de Argeș and thus just missed promotion. A year later he won his season and rose to League II . There the club was able to finish the 2009/10 season in seventh place. At the same time, Gaz Metan reached the second round of the Romanian Cup through a success at first division club Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț , where the team lost 1-0 to the eventual winners CFR Cluj . The 2010/11 season ended the club in tenth place.
In the summer of 2011, the club moved from Craiova to Drobeta Turnu Severin , where after the bankruptcy of FC Drobeta Turnu Severin no high-class club was based anymore. As a result, he renamed himself Gaz Metan Severin . The 2011/12 season ended with the club in third place. Since the season winner FC Timișoara waived the promotion, Gaz Metan rose to League 1 . In January 2012 the club changed its name to CS Turnu Severin . After the 2012/13 season , the club became the 16th. In addition, his license was revoked due to excessive debts. Shortly afterwards the association was dissolved.
