The Gessner peak with 3020 m the highest summit of the Storkvarvet in Mühlig-Hofmann Mountains of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Lands . It rises 3 km north of the Habermehl summit .
The mountain was discovered during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 . This expedition was led by Captain Alfred Ritscher . The summit was named after Wilhelm Geßner, the director of Hansa-Luftbild . The Norwegian entrepreneur Ivar Tollefsen made the first ascent of the mountain in 1994.
