The former mansion

The Gebr. Willach GmbH is a company in the municipality Ruppichteroth ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

Beginnings

In 1764, the farmer's son Johann Friedrich Willach from Dierdorf married into the Stommel family from Ruppichteroth. The son Wilhelm Willach expanded the now run business in Ruppichteroth Manufacture, colonial, haberdashery, white and wool goods, iron and building materials, fertilizer and coal to include branches in Dierdorf, Altenkirchen , Neuwied and Bröleck . This division passed to a grandson. Instead, two sons of Wilhelm Willach founded a trading business for locks and fittings in 1889.

Otto and Hugo Willach set up their own production in 1889. In 1904 the factory produced its own electricity. A sawmill , a turnery and a paint factory were built.

At the beginning of the First World War over 60 people were employed. During the occupation of the Rhineland, a branch was maintained in Cologne in order to be able to secure economic sales.

In 1926 the Willach brothers went their separate ways.

Otto Willach took over the company name Gebr. Willach and built a new plant on Herchener Strasse together with his son. Willach employed up to 200 people. After the fall of the Wall , another plant was opened in Burgstädt . In 2002 the company was qualified according to DIN EN ISO 9001 . The Gebr. Willach GmbH factory for fittings technology has exported locks, furniture fittings, switch systems and showcase fittings to 50 countries. The company gave corporate loans to its employees to encourage home construction.

Hugo Willach founded the company Hugo Willach & Sons with his sons Walter and Otto in 1926, which used the Plant I building at the Bröltalbahn station . In 1952 the company was renamed HUWIL-Werke. 1970 Plant III was founded in Waldbröl . At peak times, HUWIL employed up to 1,000 people. They produced furniture and decorative locks, lid supports, folding and sliding door systems. After a financial crisis, the corporation of the German insurance industry took over the company. After 51% of the HUWIL plant was transferred to the English Titus International Plc. were sold, Titus completely took over the HUWIL plant in January 2007. Titus + Lama expanded with its equal partner HUWIL to Titus + Lama + Huwil and thus became one of the ten largest manufacturers of furniture accessories in the world.

In 2012, the HUWIL site, which has since been closed, was sold to Schoofs Immobilien Invest X GmbH & Co KG based in Kevelaer. In December 2014, the vacant buildings on the site on Brölstrasse were demolished.

The HUWIL Center, based on the old buildings, opened here in the summer of 2015. As a tenant u. a. Lidl , Edeka , Fressnapf , KiK and Rossmann have been won.

Products

Gebr. Willach GmbH (GeWiRu) has been developing, producing and selling storage systems for pharmacies since 1963. It all started with pull-out cupboards, which later became known as typical pharmacy cupboards. Rolling cupboards were added later. At the end of the 1960s, Willach brought the classic pharmacy drawers onto the market, which are now marketed under the FAMA brand. According to the manufacturer, FAMA pharmacy drawers are the leading drawer system in the world.

Since the mid-1990s, Willach has been developing, manufacturing and selling automated pharmacy storage systems (picking / dispensing machines), which today have become the standard in many modern and busy pharmacies.

In 2007, Willach + Heise GmbH (today's Willach Pharmacy Solutions GmbH ) was founded, which has since concentrated on advising and selling storage systems for pharmacies worldwide. Since 2009 Sonja Früh (née Willach) and Jens Willach have jointly been managing partners at Gebr. Willach GmbH and Willach Pharmacy Solutions GmbH.

Gebr. Willach GmbH now markets its range of glass fittings under the VITRIS brand.

Street name

In Ruppichteroth, Otto-Willach-Strasse is opposite the Willach GmbH factory .
