Vegetative characteristics

The perennial plant with a woody base is bare and aromatic. It reaches heights of growth of 20 to 60 centimeters.

The alternate leaves are bipinnate with oblong, egg-shaped, blunt sections.

Generative characteristics

The flowering period extends from April to July. The loosely paniculate inflorescences are glandless. The heart-shaped, stem-embracing bracts of the flowers are wider than the respective stem section in this species.

Most of the flowers are fourfold. The central flower is often five-fold and thus deviates from the structure of the other flowers. The four (or five) sepals are egg-shaped. The four (or five) non-fused petals are fringed roughly tooth-like on the edge (common name!) And yellow (green). The flower has eight (or ten) stamens .

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 40.

Occurrence

The fringed diamond is widespread throughout the Mediterranean , from the Canary Islands , Cape Verde , Azores and Madeira in the west to the Arabian Peninsula in the east.

Frequent locations are garigues , rock corridors, but also ruderal locations .
