history
The mountain was very popular as an excursion destination because of its panoramic view. Therefore, at the end of the 19th century, a lookout tower was built on the summit and an excursion restaurant was operated that belonged to Neu-Eibenberg and was visited from the Kemtau station on the Chemnitz – Aue – Adorf line ( Zwönitztalbahn ) and the Bergschänke Klaffenbach stop on the Chemnitz – Annaberg bus line could be. After the observation tower had to be completely demolished in the 1920s due to dilapidation, no new construction took place. Only the restaurant continued to operate for a few years. Today the mountain is partially forested and can no longer be used as a lookout point. Today the Geiersberg is privately owned.
