Ghost hunter John Sinclair is a German horror - television series and is based on the same Heftroman series of the author Jason Dark .
backgrounds
The series was shot in 1998 in the Barrandov film studios in Prague and the surrounding area. Endemol produced the series on behalf of RTL . According to the main actor Kai Maertens , there were disputes between RTL and Endemol after completion. RTL was dissatisfied with the quality and did not initially want to broadcast the series. After threatening not to get the rights to Big Brother (TV show) , RTL gave in and broadcast the series within a week without any major application. According to Maertens, the series' pilot film had over 3 million viewers and a market share of around 16%.
The broadcast started on January 6, 2000 and was canceled after the eighth episode Die Rattenkönigin by RTL. In 2009 the series was released on DVD . In 2011, all nine episodes ran on RTL Crime .
The four episodes: The Rat Queen, Death Carousel, Angels Tomb and Witches Club were directed by Daniel Anderson . In three episodes: The Grim Reaper as a wedding guest, Call from the afterlife, The Horror Cabinet was directed by Robert Sigl . The pilot was directed by John van de Rest and the episode Der Gerechte Bernd Fiedler (cameraman) .

Similar to the movie Ghostbusters John Sinclair: The Demon Wedding , fans criticized the changes to the series of novels. In addition, the scripts, the special effects and the performances of the actors were sometimes very criticized.

The series is the second television adaptation of the novel series Geisterjäger John Sinclair and the only German television horror series. The three main actors had their first leading roles in the series.
