Local history

When the county of Schaumburg was divided in 1648, Gelldorf was assigned to the Lippe part and from 1899 to April 1948 belonged to the Bückeburg district, which then formed the Schaumburg-Lippe district with the Stadthagen district. On March 1, 1974, Gelldorf was incorporated into the city of Obernkirchen. In 1939 there were 696 people living here, compared to 1,086 in 1970.
