According to § 12 (2) Law on Fire Protection and Technical Assistance by the Fire Brigades for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, you can choose who:

  • has actively belonged to a volunteer fire brigade for at least four years,
  • has personal and professional aptitude for the office,
  • has attended the courses required for the office or undertakes to take them upon acceptance of the election,
  • has not yet reached the age of 59.

Re-election is also permitted after reaching the age of 59. The election period ends in the calendar year in which the elected person has reached the age of 65. If the health requirements are met, the electoral period ends at the latest at the age of 67.
