Community defense chief (Saxony)

A community firefighter designates the head of a volunteer fire brigade at community level in Saxony . In municipalities with professional fire brigades, the head of the professional fire brigade performs the duties of the municipal fire brigade in accordance with Section 19 of the Saxon Law on Fire Protection, Rescue Service and Disaster Control. The local fire brigades of the community are each headed by a local fire chief.

Election and appointment

The community / local fire chief is elected on the basis of the fire service statute of the community. He must be personally and professionally suitable for the office. The term of office of the community / local military leader is 5 years.

tasks

The community / local military leader is responsible for:

  • the efficiency of its fire brigade,
  • proper performance of the service and
  • Advice on all fire-fighting and fire protection matters.

The ranks of the community / local armed forces chief depends on the number of platoons in his community / locality.
