Gemma Whelan (born April 23, 1981 in Leeds ) is a British comedian and actress .

In 2010 she won the Funny Women Variety Award for stand-up comedy . From 2012 to 2019 she played the role of Asha Greyjoy on the HBO series Game of Thrones . There were film appearances in supporting roles, for example in Gulliver's Travels - Something big is coming up and Wolfman .

biography

Whelan attended King's High School for Girls in Warwick . In addition to being an actress and comedian, she is also a professional dancer who specializes in the tap and jazz styles. She is a member of the Beaux Belles dance group from London . Whelan is also trained in musical theater and sings mezzo-soprano . She speaks French and Spanish and lives in London. In July 2017 she was expecting her first child with husband Gerry. A few months later, she gave birth to her daughter.
