Gene Anderson (born 1933 in Saint Paul , Minnesota ; † October 31, 1991 ; actually: Eugene Avon Anderson ) was an American wrestler who was best known as the tag team partner of Ole Anderson .

Wrestling career

Gene Anderson started wrestling in 1961 and was trained by Verne Gagne . In 1965 he formed the Minnesota Wrecking Crew tag team with Lars Anderson , who appeared as his brother. They performed mainly in the territories to Florida and could win there several tag-team titles.

Gene then formed a new tag team with Ole Anderson in 1969. Again both appeared as brothers. They became one of the most successful heel- tag teams of the 1970s. They dominated the tag team scene in the southeastern United States until 1981. Among other things, they were the first winners of the NWA World Tag Team Championship , which later became the WCW World Tag Team Championship . They were able to win the championship title a total of seven times.

1981 Gene Anderson resigned from active wrestling for health reasons and appeared as the manager of Jimmy Snuka , Ivan Koloff and Ray Stevens, among others . In 1984 he left the wrestling business for good.

After wrestling

After Anderson retired from active wrestling, he became Deputy Sheriff in North Carolina . He died of a heart attack on October 31, 1991 .

Gene's son Brad Anderson was also a wrestler, who competed for a short time in the NWA .
