Gene Gammage

Gene Gammage (* the thirtieth January 1931 in Atlanta , Georgia as Eugene Sheldon Gammage ) is an American jazz drummer of modern jazz .

Gene Gammage began his career as a professional musician in 1952, moved to Los Angeles and played there with Teddy Charles in 1953 , with Hampton Hawes in 1955, in 1955 at times with André Previn and in 1956 with Barney Kessel . In 1956 he worked in Las Vegas with Oscar Peterson , who also used him for a record recording. He was also involved in recordings by Beverly Kelly / Pat Moran , Herb Geller , Pat Moran, Johnny Hartman / Andrew Hill , Shirley Horn , Webster Young , Bobby Short and Jack Sheldon .
