Gene Siskel
Eugene "Gene" Kal Siskel (born January 26, 1946 in Chicago , † February 20, 1999 in Evanston , Illinois ) was an American journalist, film critic and television presenter.
He worked for the Chicago Tribune and was considered one of the most respected film critics in the United States . He was best known for his joint television programs with fellow critic Roger Ebert , who wrote for the rival newspaper Chicago Sun-Times . From 1975 to 1982 they presented the program Sneak Previews , in which they rated films that frequently appeared at the box office. After changing channels, they performed the program At the Movies with Siskel & Ebert from 1982 until Siskel's death in 1999
Siskel died of complications from a brain tumor at the age of 53. His successor on the TV show was Richard Roeper of the Chicago Sun-Times. The show has been called Ebert & Roeper since then and ran until 2008.
