The "BahnRadRoute Hellweg-Weser" is a long-distance cycle route from Soest to Hameln . The cycle path is approx. 275 kilometers long (depending on the choice of alternative route sections). It runs largely through North Rhine-Westphalia and ends in Lower Saxony .

description

The long-distance cycle path begins in Soest and leads over the legendary Hellweg across the Gütersloher Land to Bielefeld on the edge of the Teutoburg Forest . It continues through the Lipper Bergland into the valley of the Emmer to Hameln on the Weser . Along the way, the towns of Bad Sassendorf and Erwitte with its castle are crossed. The route continues through the Soester Börde , the Gütersloher Land and over the Bielefelder Pass to Bielefeld. It continues along the Obersee through the Lipperland to Lemgo , and then leads through the Begatal , where Wendlinghausen Castle is located. Next, the train-bike route leads through the Emmertal , along the Schiedersee to Hameln.

The cycle path is designed as a "BahnRadRoute". It is therefore possible in many places to switch to the train and cover parts of the route by train or to start the individual bike tour at an intermediate station. The route runs parallel to the railway lines

The cycle path also runs on the old route of the Schieder – Blomberg railway line .

The following municipalities are on the route:

Soest , Erwitte , Lippstadt , Rietberg , Rheda-Wiedenbrück , Gütersloh , Bielefeld , Leopoldshöhe , Lage , Lemgo , Barntrup , Blomberg , Bad Pyrmont , Emmerthal and Hameln .
