General Pico is a city in northeastern La Pampa Province , Argentina .
The city has an area of 2,555 km² and is 143 meters above sea level. Since the land is very fertile, livestock and agriculture are mainly practiced in General Pico.
With a population of 56,795 (2010 census), it is the second largest city in the province after the capital, Santa Rosa .
The railway crossing between the west and south was a determining factor in the placement of this city. It was founded by General Eduardo Gustavo Pico, who was governor of the province of La Pampa.
General Pico has two very important basketball teams in the Argentine League : Pico Football Club and Independiente de Pico .
