Parachute General
General of the parachute troops was a military rank in the German armed forces . This corresponds to the current rank of lieutenant general and was intended for the commanding general of a parachute corps or air force field corps within the air force of the Wehrmacht . The introduction of the rank took place with the renaming of the commanding general of the XI. Fliegerkorps and later Colonel General Kurt Student (before he was General der Flieger ) on May 1, 1943. Similar rank designations were introduced by the Wehrmacht for other branches of service (including General of the Panzer Troops , General of the Mountain Troops ).
