Genesius of Arles
Genesius von Arles (* in Arles ; † 303 or 308 ) is a saint and martyr of the Catholic Church. He is the patron saint of notaries and clerks . His feast day is August 25th .

Legend
According to legend , at the time of the Roman emperors Diocletian and Maximian , Genesius was initially a soldier and later a clerk in the southern French city of Arles, which at that time belonged to the Roman province of Gaul . When the decree on the persecution of Christians was dictated to him and he was asked to write it down, he became angry with the judge . Genesius threw the wax tablets at his feet and fled. He was captured and executed. He was martyred by beheading . Although Genesius was not baptized , he is one of the saints; martyrdom is considered a baptism of blood .
