Geneviève Brossard de Beaulieu
Marie Renee Geneviève Brossard de Beaulieu (* 1755 in La Rochelle , † 1835 in Paris ) was a French painter .
Life
Geneviève Brossard de Beaulieu came to Paris in the studio of the painter Jean-Baptiste Greuze ; on the recommendation of her teacher, she studied at the École des Beaux-Arts . She established herself as a successful artist specializing in historical and mythological genres as well as portrait painting . In Lille , Brossard de Beaulieu ran a school for senior daughters until the outbreak of the French Revolution (1889 to 1899). With the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy , she was awarded a state pension.
Some of her works survived the turmoil of the revolutionary years, including a portrait of Princess Elisabeth Lubomirksa, which can now be seen in the National Museum in Warsaw .
