Genival Saraiva de França (born April 3, 1938 in Alcantil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Palmares .

Life

Genival Saraiva de França was ordained a priest on January 1, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Palmares on July 12, 2000 . He was ordained episcopate on September 23 of the same year by the Bishop of Campina Grande , Luís Gonzaga Fernandes ; Co-consecrators were Ivo Lorscheiter , Bishop of Santa Maria , and Acácio Rodrigues Alves , former bishop of Palmares. As a motto he chose PRO HOMINIBUS CONSTITUITUR .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on March 19, 2014.
