history
The diocese of Palmares was on January 13, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. built with the Apostolic Constitution Peramplas Ecclesias from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Olinda e Recife and the Diocese of Garanhuns . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Olinda e Recife as a suffragan .
