Luís Gonzaga Fernandes

Luís Gonzaga Fernandes (born August 24, 1926 in Marcelino Vieira , Rio Grande do Norte , † April 4, 2003 in João Pessoa ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Campina Grande .

Life

Luís Gonzaga Fernandes was ordained a priest on December 8, 1950 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 6, 1965 auxiliary bishop in Vitória and titular bishop of Mididi . The Archbishop of Vitória, João Batista da Mota e Albuquerque , donated him episcopal ordination on December 5th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Manuel Pereira da Costa , Bishop of Campina Grande, and Zacarias Rolim de Moura , Bishop of Cajazeiras . As a motto he chose IN JESUS CRISTO .

He attended the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. The Pope appointed him Bishop of Campina Grande on July 9, 1981 . On August 29, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
