Matias Patrício de Macêdo
Matias Patrício de Macêdo (born April 14, 1936 in Santana do Matos , Rio Grande do Norte , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Natal .
Life
Matias Patrício de Macêdo was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Natal on July 14, 1963 .
Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cajazeiras on July 12, 1990 . He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Natal, Alair Vilar Fernandes de Melo , on October 21 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Manuel Tavares de Araújo , Bishop of Caicó , and Zacarias Rolim de Moura , Bishop Emeritus of Cajazeiras.
On July 12, 2000, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Campina Grande . When Luís Gonzaga Fernandes retired on August 29, 2001, he succeeded him as Bishop of Campina Grande. On November 26, 2003, he was appointed Archbishop of Natal.
On December 21, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Matias Patrício de Macêdo for reasons of age.
