Werner Genuit (born June 3, 1937 in Wuppertal ; † January 3, 1997 in Karlsruhe ) was a German pianist .

education

Werner Genuit has spent almost every free hour at the piano since his early youth. Like his school friend, the clarinettist Dieter Klöcker , Werner Genuit first learned a trade and trained as a baker. He then studied at the Nordwestdeutsche Musikakademie, today's Hochschule für Musik Detmold , with Hans Richter-Haaser and in Geneva with Louis Hiltbrand, where he graduated with the “Premier Prix à L'Unamité”.

Concerts

Numerous concerts and tours as a soloist and chamber musician with well-known orchestras and ensembles have taken him to all European countries, to Africa, Asia, South America and Canada. His partners included the violinists Josef Suk , Tibor Varga and Wanda Wiłkomirska , the cellists André Navarra , Anner Bylsma and the speaker Hans Clarin . There was a close cooperation with Dieter Klöcker and the Consortium Classicum .

Recordings

Among the television appearances, a transmission of the Gershwin Piano Concerto with the conductor Eberhard Schoener, who is known as a film composer, and an appearance with the double bass player Ludwig Streicher at Alfred Biolek'sBio's Bahnhof ” should be highlighted.

His discography includes 92 LPs and CDs with 183 works (mainly with the EMI , cpo , Bayer Records labels ). Some of these recordings have been awarded prizes such as the “Premio della Critica Discografico Italiana” and the “ Wiener Flötenuhr ” (for the best Mozart interpretation).

There are also 324 recordings on radio stations, mainly on WDR and SWR .

Teaching

From 1970 to 1982 Werner Genuit taught at what is now the Detmold University of Music . From the beginning of the winter semester 1982 until his death in 1997 he took over a piano class as professor at the State University of Music in Karlsruhe , which named a hall after him in memory. He was also a regular guest teacher at summer courses in Weikersheim , Trossingen and Curitiba (Brazil).

Works

Werner Genuit was also active as a composer and arranger. His 17 compositions and 44 arrangements are mostly written for one or more pianos (example: Ravel's Boléro for 4 pianos and 8 players) or for salon orchestra.
