Boško Janković ( Serbian - Cyrillic Бошко Јанковић ; born March 1, 1984 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian football player . The midfielder played for Hellas Verona in Serie A and is a former Serbian national player .

Career

Boško Janković began his football career at FK Jedinstvo Ub , where other Serbian national players such as Dušan Basta or Aleksandar Luković began their careers. After performing well, at the age of 16 he joined the youth team at Red Star Belgrade . At the same time he ran in 1999 for the U-16 national team of Yugoslavia and was captain of the team. After he was voted top scorer and best player of the tournament at a national team U-16 tournament in Ráckeve , Hungary , scouts from Arsenal London , Ajax Amsterdam and Sporting Lisbon noticed him. However, Janković said he wants to continue playing for Red Star Belgrade and is hoping to make the first team.

2003 Boško Janković signed a five-year contract for the first team of Red Star Belgrade. In 2004 he made it to the finals with Serbia and Montenegro at the U-21 European Championship in Germany , where Italy lost 3-0. At the U-21 European Championship in Portugal in 2006 , they narrowly failed in the semi-finals against Ukraine (5-4 on pens).

Janković moved from Red Star Belgrade to RCD Mallorca in August 2006 for a sum of three million euros . His first goal for the senior national team of Serbia came on March 28, 2007 in the European Championship qualifier against Portugal . He equalized the 1-1 final score. The Serb was considered the most dangerous player in Mallorca in the 2006/07 season with nine goals. For the 2007/08 season, Boško Janković moved to US Palermo in Italy for eight million euros . After only one year at Palermo, Janković was loaned to CFC Genoa , who then exercised his right to a purchase option following the loan.

In the 2009/10 season Janković completed only three league games for Genoa, as he was due to several injuries almost the entire season. In March 2010, shortly after his comeback, he suffered another injury that is expected to cost him participation in the 2010 World Cup finals.
