Geoffrey Burbidge
Geoffrey Ronald Burbidge (born September 24, 1925 in Chipping Norton , Oxfordshire , † January 26, 2010 in San Diego , California ) was a British-American astrophysicist . He was the husband of Margaret Burbidge .
In 1957, together with Margaret Burbidge, William Alfred Fowler and Fred Hoyle, he wrote the B2FH theory on the formation of light elements through nuclear fusion in stars ( nucleosynthesis ). In 1971 Burbidge was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences , and in 1988 he became a Fellow of the American Physical Society .
