Geoffrey Till
Geoffrey Till (born January 14, 1945 in London ) is a British naval historian . He is Professor in the Defense Studies Department at King's College London and Director of the Corbett Center for Maritime Policy Studies .
Live and act
Till graduated from King's College London with a bachelor's degree in 1966, a master's degree in 1968 and a doctorate in military history in 1976. He was on a NATO scholarship at the US Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey . He taught at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and the Department of System Science at City University London , was visiting professor at King's College ( Department of War Studies ) and from 1989 professor of history at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich (London) and also taught from the Open University and was visiting professor at the United States Marine Corps University in Quantico, Virginia in 1989 . After the closure of the Royal Naval College in Greenwich, he taught at the Joint Services Command and Staff College , where he was Dean of Academic Studies, and at the same time at King's College, which he became a Fellow in 2006.
Till was visiting professor at Armed Forces University in Taiwan , was visiting professor at Victoria University of Wellington (2008) and the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) in Singapore and is on the council of the Royal United Services Institute . He lectures regularly at military and naval academies around the world.
He is primarily concerned with naval history after the Second World War, for example with the influence of globalization on the development of the navy in the Asia-Pacific region.
Till has been in charge of reviews in the Journal of Strategic Studies since it was founded in 1978, has been editor of the Navies and Technology series at Brassey's since 1987, and is editor of the Naval History and Policy series at Routledge.
