Georg-Friedrich Kahl

Georg-Friedrich Kahl (born October 21, 1936 in Potsdam ; † February 1, 2019 in Kleve ) was a German doctor , pharmacologist and toxicologist . He was a professor emeritus at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen .

Life

Kahl studied human medicine from 1955 to 1961 at the University of Hamburg and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . He was a member of the Corps Irminsul in Hamburg. In 1961 he passed his medical examination and then studied psychology until 1964 . It was in 1966 when Karl Joachim Nice at the Medical Faculty in Hamburg with the pharmacological-toxicological dissertation isolated studies on oxygen consumption peritoneal mast cells of the rat during histamine release by substance 48/80 to Dr. med. PhD. He then worked at the Pharmacological Institutes in Hamburg and Mainz. In 1971 he completed his habilitation under Gustav Kuschinsky at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He received the venia legendi in pharmacology and toxicology and in 1985 was offered a C4 professorship at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . Up until his retirement in 2002, he was head of the toxicology department in the human medicine department and specialist in clinical pharmacology at the University Hospital Göttingen . He also built the Poison Information Center North for the states of Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein.

Kahl was a member of the Society for Toxicological and Forensic Chemistry (GTFCh).
