Georg Balthasar von Samitz

Baron Georg Balthasar von Samitz (* 1686 in Jormannsdorf near Ödenburg ; † March 11, 1732 in Skanderborg ) was a Danish major general .

Life

origin

Samitz came from a noble family of barons who were wealthy in Steinegk and Michelsdorf . His parents were Freiherr Christoph Hermann von Samitz and Freiin von Leisserin from a distinguished Austrian family.

career

Samitz entered the Danish military service and was promoted to lieutenant on November 29, 1717 and colonel on November 13, 1919 . He was adjutant general in the bodyguard. He took over on October 9, 1722 as chief of the Baudissin cavalry regiment .

family

He married on May 11, 1728 in Møllerup Gods with Ingeborg Reedtz (1700–1775), daughter of the Danish major general Valdemar Reedtz. Children are not known. The couple are buried in the church at Barrit . The Samitz sarcophagus is well preserved.
