Georg Barth (born October 4, 1876 in Zwickau ; † May 15, 1947 there ) was a German lawyer and politician ( DNVP ).

Life and work

He was the son of Zwickau's chief medical officer Karl Barth. After graduating from high school in Zwickau in 1896, Barth began studying law and economics at the universities of Leipzig , Munich and Kiel , which he completed in 1900 with the first state examination in law. He then entered the Saxon judicial service. He initially worked as a trainee lawyer in Zwickau and Glauchau , and received his doctorate as Dr. jur. and passed the second state examination in law in 1904. He then worked as a court assessor at the district court of Zwickau and the district court of Zwickau as well as a district judge in Zwickau. In 1916 he got a job as a public prosecutor at the local public prosecutor's office. After 1919 he worked as a district judge in Zwickau and was a fighter against the expropriation of the princes . Most recently he was district court director.

Barth was a city ​​councilor in Zwickau from 1911 to 1919 . After the First World War he joined the German National People's Party (DNVP) and had been an honorary city ​​councilor in Zwickau since 1920 . In the Reichstag election in June 1920 he was elected to the German Reichstag , to which he belonged until May 1928. In parliament he represented constituency 33 (Chemnitz-Zwickau) from 1920 to 1924 and constituency 28 (Dresden-Bautzen) from 1924 to 1928.
