Georg Bornemann

Carl Georg Bornemann (born October 15, 1855 in Freiberg i. Sa. , † July 10, 1936 ) was a German chemist and university professor .

Life

He was born in Freiberg, the son of an upper mountain ridge. His mother was Emilie Bornemann geb. Heydemann. She came from the family of a banker in Bautzen . On the other hand, one of his ancestors on his father's side was the school principal Bornemann in Bautzen.

After attending grammar school and secondary school I order, he passed the Matura and studied at the Technical University of Dresden. He later moved to Heidelberg University , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. On May 1, 1880, Georg Bornemann got a job at the Technical State Schools, which later became the Royal Trade Academy in Chemnitz . There he taught chemistry and metallurgy, most recently as professor of chemistry. He also held the title of Councilor. In Chemnitz, Georg Bornemann also looked after the collection for experimental chemistry. In October 1921, when he turned 66, he retired.

From 1909 to 1921 Georg Bornemann was on the board of the German wine testing agency.

As a chemist, he specialized in inorganic chemistry, chemistry of fats and chemical technology. As an author he worked on the Chemische Zeitung on the Chemische Zeitschrift.

family

Georg Bornemann married Margarethe in Dresden on April 17, 1884, the daughter of the railway director Delly from Frankfurt am Main. The children Johannes (* 1885) and Ilse (* 1887) emerged from their marriage. Margarethe Bornemann died early.
