Georg Carl Andreas Wagner (* 1794 ; † December 1, 1854 ) was a royal Hanoverian court - actor and theater stage manager .

Life

Georg Carl Andreas Wagner was born at the time of the Electorate of Hanover at the time of the personal union between Great Britain and Hanover in 1794 and grew into the so-called " French era ". After the elevation to the Kingdom of Hanover, he worked in the castle opera house in the Leineschloss , both as an actor on the stage and as a stage manager behind the stage, from where he had to coordinate the stage technology during the performances in the theater, also known as the court theater .

Like many other cultural workers and court officials of his time, Wagner did not live in the old town of the residential city of Hanover in the middle of the 19th century , but according to the address book of the royal capital and residence city of Hanover from 1849 in the Calenberger Neustadt , namely in the local one Backerstrasse 35 .

Wagner, who was highly valued by the members of the court theater and who died at the end of 1854, was buried in the old St. Nikolai cemetery , although the residents of Calenberger Neustadt were usually buried in the Neustädter or St. Andreas cemetery at the time. The tall, narrow grave stele created for him has been preserved to this day as one of the most important tombs in the northeastern part of the garden monument , but it fell over, broke in two and can be found sunken on the lawn of the St. Nikolai cemetery in mid-2016. The front of the grave stele, last photographed in 2016, "includes only a few biographical data, there are no decorations." However, the back was documented in the Hanoverian History Papers in the post-war period and includes - long before the last spelling reform - in the linguistic style of the time the cultural monument was created the inscription

“As a sign of respect, dedicated by all members of the royal. Hoff Theater "
