Georg Carl Koch
Georg Carl Koch (also Georg Karl Koch , born February 27, 1857 in Berlin ; † November 3, 1927 there ) was a German painter, illustrator and lithographer.
Koch was born the son of the painter Carl Koch , who gave him his first painting lessons.
Koch studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin with Carl Steffeck , Paul Friedrich Meyerheim and Karl Gussow .
He made his debut in 1874 at the Berlin Academy Exhibition with the work "Forest party with deer". After completing his studies, Koch created several city panoramas and dioramas of Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden and also cityscapes in America, but soon Georg Carl Koch began working as an animal painter, especially a horse painter, as well as a battle painter in Berlin. He also dealt with lithography and woodcut.
From 1896 to 1927 Koch was a member of the Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin , Section for the Fine Arts.
In 1899 he was appointed professor at the Berlin Academy. He regularly showed his works at exhibitions in Berlin, Dresden, Munich, Düsseldorf, Paris and Vienna. In 1914 he took over the chair for animal painting at the College of Fine Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg as the successor to Paul Friedrich Meyerheim .
