Bernhard Pünjer

Georg Christian Bernhard Pünjer (born June 7, 1850 in Friedrichsgabekoog , † May 13, 1885 in Jena ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

Pünjer was the son of a village school teacher. He graduated from the Meldorfer Gymnasium . He then studied theology from 1870 at the universities of Jena , Erlangen , Zurich and Kiel , before taking the theological exam in Jena in 1872. With the writing Ratio, quae inter Melanchthonis Locorum theologicorum formam priorem et posteriorem intercedat, exponitur: oratio quam in memoriam Augustanae Confessionis ex lege Beneficii Lynkeriani Die XXX. m. Mayi a. MDCCCLXXIV in templo Paulino academico he acquired a scholarship in 1874 and in the same year he received his dissertation on The Doctrine of Religions Kant's. Presented in the context of his system and critically examined about the Dr. phil. PhD . He passed the theological examination in Kiel. He returned to Jena and acquired the degree of Lic. Theol. He then completed his habilitation with the work De Michaelis Serveti doctrina commentatio dogmatico-historica . From 1876 he was a private lecturer in Jena.

Pünjer was appointed extraordinary professor for systematic and historical theology at Jena University on January 2, 1880 . In 1883 he was awarded an honorary doctorate ( Dr. theol. Hc ) by the theological faculty of Heidelberg University . Also because of his liberal theological positions, an appointment to a full professorship could not be realized. He died of a lung disease before his 35th birthday .

Pünjer worked on various periodicals. The 1881 founded Theological annual reports he served until his death as a responsible editor . He was also an employee of the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie (ADB).
