Georg Christoph Schlüter (* approx. 1750 in Hanover ; † November 9, 1824 there ) was a German printer and publisher.

Life

Schlüter was the son of the printer Heinrich Ernst Christoph Schlüter , who built a printing house from the Landschaftliche Druckerey founded by Georg Wilhelm Ebell in 1747 in Hanover in 1749, which continues to this day in Hanover as Schlütersche publishing company . For the Hanover Intelligence Comptoir founded by Albert Christoph von Wüllen , he printed the Hanoverian advertisements from 1750 and the Hanoverian magazine as a supplement from 1763 .

His son Georg Christoph attended the high school (later the Ratsgymnasium ) in Hanover and studied law at the University of Göttingen from October 1772 to Michaelis 1775. After completing his studies, he became a printer in Halle and Leipzig, and then in 1777 he worked for the Landschaftliche Druckerey in Hanover, which was contractually closely linked to the Calenberg-Grubenhagen landscape until well into the 19th century . In 1783 Georg Christoph Schlueter was given the title of landscape printer . With the death of his father, he took over the management of this printing company and continued to run it until his own death. In 1805 he acquired the house at Osterstrasse 63 from Count Ernst Friedrich Herbert zu Munster , where the company was based until 1992. After his death, the company was continued by his wife and son under the name GC Schlüters Wittwe und Sohn .
