Georg Conräder (born May 8, 1838 in Munich , † January 2, 1911 in Opatija ) was a German history and portrait painter .

Conrad began his studies at the age of 15 on October 30, 1852 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Philipp Foltz and continued it from 1857 to 1860 with Karl Theodor von Piloty .

Together with Franz von Lenbach , he moved to Weimar in 1860 , where he taught at the newly founded Grand Ducal Saxon Art School until 1862. In 1862 Georg Conräder was appointed professor at the Munich Art Academy.

Conrad mainly devoted himself to history painting, occasionally he also painted portraits and genre paintings . Some of his works after 1880 were created in Budapest .
